San Diego, California — A 60-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding her mountain bike in Rancho Penasquitos on Sunday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The incident occurred around 8:40 a.m. at 13100 Rancho Penasquitos Blvd. The cyclist was hit by a silver or charcoal gray mid-sized SUV traveling in the same direction. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries, including substantial brain bleeding and a fractured spine.
