Baby in Coma with Severe Brain Injury After Car Crash

Cleveland, Ohio — An 11-month-old baby boy is fighting for his life after sustaining a severe brain injury in a car crash last Thursday night. His mother, Tashae Williams, is praying for a miracle and seeking justice.

Williams reports that her son De-Mari is in an induced coma at Cleveland’s Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.

The car crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. as Williams drove on St. Clair Avenue approaching East 82nd Street. With the traffic light green, she proceeded through the intersection when a black SUV attempted a left turn and collided with her vehicle.

Next thing I know, I was getting hit on the driver’s side on the front side of my car. All the airbags deployed. I definitely got hit with the airbag. My leg was busted a little,” Williams recounted.

Despite her injuries, Williams quickly got De-Mari out of the back seat, noticing he was breathing very shallowly and unresponsive.

Bystanders called 911 as she rushed to her nearby parents’ house for help. When she returned, the other driver had fled the scene.

She has altered my baby’s life,” Williams said. “I am just trying to take it day by day.”

With De-Mari’s first birthday approaching on August 4, the planned celebrations are uncertain.  Police are currently investigating the crash.

This tragic incident highlights the devastating consequences of severe brain injuries resulting from car crashes.
