Bicyclist Suffers Brain Bleeding in San Diego Hit-and-Run

San Diego, California — A 60-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding her mountain bike in Rancho Penasquitos on Sunday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The incident occurred around 8:40 a.m. at 13100 Rancho Penasquitos Blvd. The cyclist was hit by a silver or charcoal gray mid-sized SUV traveling in the same direction. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries, including substantial brain bleeding and a fractured spine.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident but have yet to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. They urge anyone with information about the vehicle or driver to come forward.

The authorities continue searching for the suspect and hope community assistance will aid the investigation.
