Teen Suffers Head Injury in Alameda Youth Basketball Game

Alameda, California — A Sacramento area teen suffered a head injury during an AAU basketball game at the College of Alameda last weekend. The incident occurred when an opposing player stomped on the teen’s head, as reported by local media.

The event unfolded on Sunday during a match between Tumakbo United and Payton’s Place. Seth Guingab, 13, of Elk Grove, was identified as the injured player.

During an inbound pass play, Seth and an opposing player fought for control of the ball, causing Seth to fall to the floor. A third player from Payton’s Place then allegedly stomped on Seth’s head, leading to a concussion.

Seth was immediately taken to a local hospital and is currently recovering. His family’s lawyer, Kathleen Alparce, emphasized the need for stricter safety measures in youth sports to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Alameda police have launched an investigation into the matter. In response to the incident, Payton’s Place stated that the player responsible is no longer part of the program and is receiving appropriate assistance.

This incident highlights the ongoing concerns over player safety in youth sports, particularly in high-contact games like basketball, where head injuries can have serious consequences.
