Teen’s Traumatic Brain Injury: Family Seeks Justice

North Carolina — A Tennessee family has filed a lawsuit against Beech Mountain Resort following a 2022 skiing accident that resulted in severe injuries for their 17-year-old daughter.  The legal action alleges the resort’s negligence contributed to the incident.

The complaint states that Leigh Wright suffered a traumatic brain injury and other serious physical trauma after colliding with an unmarked snow machine. The accident occurred when Wright slid into a ditch and struck the machine, which the family contends was improperly positioned and lacked adequate safety markings or padding. The location of the snow machine, at the intersection of several slopes, compounded the danger, according to the lawsuit.

Wright’s injuries included brain bleeding, skull fractures, hearing loss, and a broken jaw, in addition to the traumatic brain injury. The family asserts that the resort had a responsibility to maintain safe conditions for skiers and provide warnings about potential hazards. They further claim that similar incidents had occurred previously, yet the resort failed to implement necessary safety improvements.

The lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages, alleging negligence and gross negligence on the part of Beech Mountain Resort. The Wright family contends that the resort’s inaction directly caused the accident and their daughter’s extensive injuries.

Our thoughts are with the Wright family during this difficult time. We understand the profound impact such an accident can have, and we hope for Leigh’s continued recovery.
