Eight-month-old Mabli Cariad Hall, who was in a pushchair, tragically lost her life after being struck by a car outside Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire, UK.
The incident also involved another pedestrian. Mabli suffered severe head injuries and received immediate medical attention at the hospital. Despite being airlifted to Cardiff University Hospital and later transferred to Bristol Children’s Hospital, she passed away four days after the collision. The family expressed gratitude to the healthcare professionals involved in Mabli’s care.
The inquest into Mabli’s death, described as a “difficult and tragic” time for the family, revealed details of the incident. The collision occurred in front of the hospital’s main entrance, prompting a police investigation that is currently ongoing. The cause of death was identified as severe traumatic brain injury.
While awaiting the outcome of the police investigation, the inquest has been adjourned until January 25, 2024, as determined by the acting senior coroner for Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. The driver of the white BMW sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the passenger in the car and the other pedestrian involved were discharged from the hospital.
