Family Rallies Support for Chip Woodell’s Recovery from Traumatic Brain Injury

Edward Woodell, affectionately known as ‘Chip,’ was involved in a severe accident on his way home from work on Thursday, April 27. Following the crash, emergency responders from the Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad extricated him from the wreckage and swiftly airlifted him to Morristown Medical Center’s Trauma Unit.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to provide much-needed support for Woodell and his family during this challenging time.

The campaign highlights the extent of the injuries sustained by Woodell, revealing that he suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of the accident and is now courageously fighting for his life. Multiple surgeries have been performed to address his condition, with doctors noting a skull fracture and “irreversible” damage to his left eye.

The fundraiser aims to aid Woodell’s children, Jameson (23), Jeanna (21), and Grayson (12), as well as his partner, Kari, as they navigate the arduous road to his recovery.

Remarkably, the community has shown overwhelming support, contributing over $44,500 to the Chip Woodell brain injury campaign as of Thursday, May 18. This financial assistance will help alleviate the family’s immediate financial burdens and provide them with the necessary resources during this challenging journey.

In a recent update posted on Monday, May 15, it was shared that Woodell, while still in the ICU, has shown signs of progress, breathing through a trach collar and occasionally displaying responsiveness by squeezing his loved ones’ hands. The family remains hopeful for his continued improvement and eagerly awaits his return.

Although the exact nature and timeline of recovery remain uncertain, the progress he has made thus far is nothing short of remarkable. The heartfelt update on the fundraising page emphasizes the irreplaceable role Woodell plays in his family’s life, expressing their deep longing for his return. The journey ahead may be challenging, but the outpouring of support from the community serves as a powerful source of encouragement and strength.
