OCFA Cadet Suffers Brain Injury After Alleged DUI Crash

Laguna Niguel, California — A young Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) cadet is battling for his life after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Laguna Niguel. Christian Bedolla, 21, who recently overcame a rare form of lymphoma, suffered a severe brain injury and multiple broken bones in the crash.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Cabot Road and Crown Valley Parkway when a 20-year-old driver reportedly ran a red light and collided with Bedolla’s vehicle. Authorities are investigating the driver for DUI charges.

Bedolla, who has long aspired to become a firefighter, was preparing to return to the fire academy just hours before the accident. Described by loved ones as hardworking and compassionate, Bedolla’s family and girlfriend have shared their heartache over his critical condition.
