Pedestrian Fatally Shot on I-805, Suffers Severe Head Injury

San Diego, California — A pedestrian was fatally shot on Interstate 805 in San Diego’s North Park area, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to calls about a pedestrian on the northbound I-805 at the University Avenue off-ramp. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a severe head injury, which was later identified as a gunshot wound.

The victim, a 30-year-old San Diego resident, was rushed to Scripps Mercy Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The CHP has not yet identified any suspects or provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the CHP Border Division Investigative Service Unit at 858-944-6300. The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement officials work to determine what led to this tragic incident.
