Skateboarder Hit by Suspected DUI Driver

San Diego, California — A skateboarder is in critical condition after being struck by a suspected DUI driver late Thursday night in the Fox Canyon neighborhood, authorities reported.

The accident occurred around 11:50 p.m. on the 3600 block of Euclid Avenue. A man of unknown age was skateboarding southbound when he was hit by a 20-year-old woman driving a 2009 Honda Accord at high speed, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Following the collision, the driver fled the scene and was involved in another crash at 2500 46th Street. She fled once more before her vehicle was disabled at Fairmount Avenue and Interstate 8, where she was apprehended about three hours later. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.

The skateboarder sustained severe head and torso trauma, with his injuries deemed life-threatening. The Traffic Division is conducting the investigation.
