USC Student Found with Head Injury in Downtown L.A. Attack

Los Angeles, California — A 21-year-old University of Southern California (USC) student was discovered critically injured in her downtown Los Angeles apartment late Tuesday evening. Authorities believe she was the victim of an assault.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in an upscale residential building located on the 1200 block of Hill Street.

The young woman was immediately transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition, according to Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Captain Kelly Muniz.

Investigators meticulously examine the apartment for forensic evidence while interviewing neighbors and reviewing security footage from the vicinity.

Officials have not disclosed whether there were signs of forced entry into the apartment, known for its high security and modern amenities, with one-bedroom units renting for $2,600 per month.

The victim’s parents had grown worried after not hearing from her and sent a family member to check on her.

The family member discovered the student with a head injury and other trauma. The LAPD urges anyone with information about the attack to contact detectives at (213) 996-4104 or (213) 996-4150.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been released as authorities continue to gather evidence and seek leads.
